Animation, Archives

These animated scenes were draw between the years 1979 and 1982.

They are in effect some of the earliest uses of  computer assisted animation.

The rectangles of the window openings were plotted with an HP200F Minicomputer (It took a whole room)  In the case of the windows the plot was directly onto the cel.  the pen skipped in the left window and his was fixed by hand.

For the picture frame, the cells were traced over the plots as the pen tended to skip on the acetate.

When this site went online circa 1995 through 1998  It hosted a program, to capture animation cels using the apple One scanner.   Using the Once scanner SDK. These pencil test sequences  were created using that program.

This program is still available for download by clicking on the download link on this page.
