Animation Scan Macintosh software for batch scanning This program is a modification of the Apple Color OneScanner SDK available in the Apple SDK archives. I got this from searching the Apple Site. Contact Apple directly for the SDK. This software only works with the Apple Color OneScanner and the Apple Gray Scale Scanner. These scanners use the Scanner SW 2.0.2 driver. The Apple One Scanner can often be found surplus for low cost. The SDK contains the software needed to make these work. It originally required Hypercard to use. A non-Apple program Ofoto was also shipped with the scanner. The program will still run if no scanner, however the sequence will be what ever is in memory. This is so field settings can be tested without a scanner. The program uses the concept of a 4:3 field 340:280 pixels in size in a landscape orientation. The scan is centered on this Field. There are 11 Field Sizes. The smallest has the highest resolution the largest the smallest resolution. Zooms, pans and trucks can be made by modifying this center value. I based this on the book Animated Film Concepts Methods Uses by Roy Madsen. It is written to use the Concepts and language of chapter 2 Page 37. To use the program use the Setup Scene... menu. This will bring up the animation stand dialog. The Pantograph/Preview window on the left shows the full image A grid can overlay this. The Preview button on the left will scan the full image. Alternatively a preview can be loaded from a PICT file with the Load button. Some baseline JPEG files work as well. A Save button will save this workspace. A black rectangle shows the current field. The default is 6. The field guide shows this graphically. The scroll bars move the center of the field. The bottom moves the field East or West the scroll on the right moves the field North/South. The page area of the scrollbar moves one field unit. The arrow moves 1 pixel unit. At the moment clicking the field does nothing. Three options appear below the preview. Grid overlays 4:3 gridlines onto the preview. Color allows color images. Scale to field zooms the preview to look at the actual field to be scanned. On the right are text values. Integer field parameters can be entered here at any time. These will over-ride the sliders and indicators. The top parameter is for a base file name When the sequence button is pressed This will be the first file name. After the image is scanned a save dialog will allow the name to be changed as well. The digits after the (.) dot are incremented by 1. The next 3 boxes are for the field parameters. North and East are positive. At the moment fractional field sizes are not supported. The rest of the values can not be modified. These are the actual scan parameters and resolution. A separate dialog allows the brightness and contrast to be modified. This is global for all scans. Including the New Scan... option from the demo. This allows for portrait Scans.
